December 8th 2009
3rd International Conference on Polyolefin Characterization to be held in Shanghai in November 2010.
Next ICPC conference will take place in Shanghai, considered the “capital” of Asia, as it represents the most emerging market in Polyolefins Industry.
The Conference will be an excellent opportunity not to be missed, as a scenario where researchers and academics will be able to share their knowledge and experiences in the latest Polyolefins Characterization events.
The date fixed for the meeting is November 7-10, 2010, which will be just after the Universal Expo, allowing this way too to attendees to enjoy the special charm and unique style that the city will have acquired after this celebration.
Previous editions were celebrated in Houston –United States- in 2006, covering mainly the Americas’ region; in Valencia –Spain- in 2008, covering the EMEA region; for giving place to the 2010 edition in Asia, being the location selected Shanghai, China.
The technical approach will focus on Separation and Fractionation, Molecular Structure and Properties, Morphology and Thermal Analysis, Rheology and Spectroscopy NMR / FTIR.
More than 300 Scientists and Technologists from main R&D Centers, Universities and Petrochemical Companies are expected to attend it. The Conference will be accompanied by a focus Short Course, Posters Sessions, Booth areas and Vendor Speeches.
The ICPC Conference
The ICPC was founded in 2006 by Dr.Colin Li Pi Shan –DOW Chemical-, Dr.Benjamin Monrabal –Polymer Char-, and Prof.João Soares –University of Waterloo-; in order to respond to the need of an international conference specifically focused on Polyolefin Characterization, and where to not only joint and consolidate this community, but also allow them the opportunity to share their own knowledge and
experiences.
Since then have also joined the Technical Committee Prof. Minoru Terano –Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology- and Prof. Dujin Wang –Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences-.
The ICPC has clearly become an international conference, highlighting the figure that in 2008 scientists from more than 20 countries attend it. Along its past editions have been supported by prestigious firms such as Agilent Technologies, Anton Paar, Borealis, DOW Chemical, Dutch Polymer Institute, ExxonMobil, Lyondellbasell, Polymer Char, Polymer Laboratories –Now a part of Varian-, Postnova, Progression, PSS Polymer Standards Service, Viscotek or Waters.
There have been two Macromolecular Symposia published –by Wiley-VCH- with a special issue in the ICPC Conference, edited by Prof. João Soares of the University of Waterloo.
